Terms of Service

Last updated 20 September 2026

These terms apply when you use humanitydecides.org, the website of Humanity Decides, or add your name to the declaration. By using the site, you agree to them.

1. About the campaign

Humanity Decides is an independent, non-partisan public campaign. The site shares information about artificial intelligence and asks people to support a declaration. Nothing on it is legal, financial or professional advice.

2. Who can sign

You must be at least 13 years old to add your name. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed.

Each person may sign once, in their own real name.

3. Your signature

When you sign, you confirm that the information you give is true and that you agree with the version of the declaration shown to you.

You agree that your name may be shown publicly in the form you chose, with your country, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You can withdraw your signature at any time through our contact form.

4. SMS Terms

Humanity Decides sends one kind of text message: a six-digit code to confirm your signature, and only when you ask for one. If the confirmation email does not reach you, you may ask us to send that code by text instead. You give us your mobile number on that screen; we never take it from anywhere else, and no text is sent unless you ask for one.

What you receive: one text with a code, for each code you request, at most three an hour. There is no recurring messaging and no marketing by text. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to any message to receive nothing further, or HELP for help. You can also confirm by email instead, or ask us to confirm your signature at our contact form.

Messages are delivered by our provider, Twilio. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Your number is never sold, and never shared with anyone for marketing — see our Privacy Policy.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: sign more than once or on behalf of anyone else; submit false, offensive or impersonating names; use bots, scripts or automated means to sign or to access the site; collect or scrape information about other signers; or attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site.

We may remove signatures and block access that breaks these terms, and remove any signature we reasonably believe is fraudulent. Removed signatures are subtracted from public totals.

6. Our content

The site’s text, design and films belong to Humanity Decides. You are welcome to share links to the site and to quote it with attribution.

Quotations, reports and news items from other people and organisations remain theirs. Quoting someone does not mean they support this campaign, and linking to a news source does not mean we endorse it.

8. Accuracy

We work to make every claim on the site accurate and sourced, and to correct errors quickly. But the site is provided “as is”, and we cannot guarantee it is complete, current or free of errors. If you find a mistake, please tell us.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Humanity Decides is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the consumer laws of your country.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
